AI-Assisted Award Drafting

Vilulia Arbitrate includes a set of AI tools designed specifically for drafting arbitration awards. On the Professional plan and above, arbitrators can generate starting-point drafts of findings of fact, conclusions of law, and damages calculations — and then assemble them into a complete formatted award saved to the case record. The award quality review tool checks the draft for structural problems or enforceability issues before finalization. All AI output requires arbitrator review before use.

What you'll learn

  • How to generate findings of fact and conclusions of law
  • How to assemble a complete award draft that saves to the case
  • How to use the award quality review tool
  • Supported award types (final, partial, interim, consent)

Generating findings of fact

The Generate Findings AI tool produces a starting-point findings-of-fact section for the award based on the evidence and testimony in the case record. The output is formatted in numbered paragraphs, ready for the arbitrator to review and edit. Optional inputs include evidence summary, disputed facts, witness summary, and key exhibits — providing these improves the quality of the output. All generated content is persisted as an AI analysis record on the case.

Generating conclusions of law

The Generate Conclusions AI tool takes the findings of fact as required input (either generated by the previous tool or written by the arbitrator) and produces corresponding legal conclusions to support the award. Providing accurate and complete findings improves the quality of the conclusions output.

Calculating damages

The Calculate Damages AI tool analyzes the case record and produces a structured damages framework: applicable liability theories, calculation methodologies, and estimated ranges. This gives the arbitrator a principled basis for the damages section of the award.

Assembling the complete award

The Generate Award AI tool assembles a complete, formatted arbitration award draft. If findings, conclusions, or damages text are not provided, the tool generates them automatically from the case record. Supported award types are final, partial, interim, and consent (default: final).

By default, this tool saves the assembled award as an ArbitrationAward record in draft status on the case and returns an award_id. Use this ID to edit the draft, run further AI checks, or issue the final award. Set the draft_only flag to true to receive the generated content without saving it to the database. Token usage across all generation steps is tracked in a complete audit trail including all prompt IDs used.

Award quality review

The Award Quality Check tool reviews a draft award for structural or legal problems before it is finalized. You provide the award text and optionally the award type. The tool returns a report identifying completeness gaps, legal sufficiency issues, and language that could create enforceability problems.

Issuing the final award

After reviewing and editing the draft, use the award issuance endpoint (POST /api/v1/arbitration/awards/:award_id/issue). A confirmation step warns that this action cannot be undone. Once issued, the award status changes from draft to issued and the document becomes immutable. A PDF is generated automatically and all parties are notified with a download link. On Professional and Enterprise plans, the issued award is anchored to the Polygon blockchain for tamper-evident verification.
