Contract Lifecycle

The Contract Lifecycle add-on ($75/month) adds obligation extraction, payment milestone tracking, compliance monitoring, and renewal alerts to dispute-related settlements. Contracts can be linked directly to case files. A platform transaction fee applies to settlement payments collected through Stripe Connect; the rate is admin-configurable and defaults to 2.50%.

Obligation extraction

When a settlement is finalized, Vilulia can extract structured obligations from the settlement text. Extraction identifies obligation type (payment, deliverable, performance, or other), the responsible party, due date, and amount where applicable. Obligations can also be created manually by case managers. Each obligation record tracks status: pending, completed, overdue, or violated.

Obligation types supported include recurring obligations with configurable recurrence frequency. The responsible party can be the complainant, respondent, or both.

Payment milestone tracking

Payment obligations can be broken into milestones. When a payment is received through Stripe Connect, it is linked to the corresponding obligation milestone, which advances the milestone status to completed. When all milestones on an obligation are complete, the obligation is marked complete automatically.

The platform transaction fee is calculated at the time of payment using the current admin-configured rate (default 2.50%). The fee is applied per payment and stored on the payment record.

Obligation reminders

Vilulia sends email reminders to the responsible party before each obligation due date at three intervals: 7 days, 3 days, and 1 day before the deadline. Reminders are only scheduled for future due dates; past-due obligations skip reminder creation and are flagged as overdue immediately on the next compliance check.

Compliance dashboard

The compliance dashboard for each settlement shows:

Total obligations: count of all obligations on the settlement
Completed: count of fulfilled obligations
Pending: count of obligations not yet due
Overdue: count of past-due obligations not yet completed
Compliance rate: percentage of obligations completed
Open violations: list of active compliance violations

Violations are created automatically when an obligation passes its due date without being completed. Each violation has a severity of high and notifies the assigned mediator. Violations can be resolved with resolution notes by a case manager.

Renewal alerts

Contracts can be configured with a renewal date and renewal type (automatic, manual, or expiring). Vilulia sends reminders at three windows before the renewal date: 60 days, 30 days, and 7 days. Each reminder window is sent once and flagged so it is not repeated. Reminders are delivered to the designated contact within the organization.

Case file linking

Contracts can be linked directly to a case record so that all relevant agreements — mediation agreements, retainer agreements, NDAs — are accessible from within the case. Linked contracts appear in the case's document view.

Stripe Connect payment collection

The Contract Lifecycle add-on includes Stripe Connect integration for collecting settlement payments from parties. The platform transaction fee (default 2.50%, admin-configurable) applies to payments collected through this integration. Escrow hold and release is managed by Stripe Connect and triggered by signing events from DocuSign.

Enabling Contract Lifecycle

Contract Lifecycle is available as an add-on on all plan tiers. To enable it, go to Settings → Features & Add-Ons and add Contract Lifecycle. Note that payment collection features require Stripe Connect to be configured for your organization. Stripe Connect is provisioned during onboarding — contact support to enable it.
